THE DREAM SHAPER SYDNEY BOUTIQUE
THE EXHIBITION
THE DREAM SHAPER
From October 7th to 19th 2025, Jaeger-LeCoultre presents The Dream Shaper Exhibition in Sydney Boutique, exploring the theme of femininity in four chapters and immersing visitors in nearly two centuries of feminine timepieces, shaped by the evolving ways in which time is worn.
THE AGE OF TRADITION: ORNAMENTED WATCHES – 1800 to 1915
In the 19th century, women’s lives were framed by tradition and domestic conventions and watches became part of this world of ornament. Miniaturised pocket watches were transformed into pendants, brooches, and bracelets, richly decorated with enamel, engraving, and gemstones.
THE AGE OF FREEDOM: MINIATURISED WATCHES – 1920 to 1930
The First World War changed everything, women entered the workforce and gained new independence. In the 1920s, this freedom was visible in fashion, watchmaking followed suit. Technical advances allowed the creation of movements so small they could be hidden inside slender bracelets. In 1929, Jaeger-LeCoultre unveiled the Calibre 101, the world’s smallest mechanical movement, still unbeaten today.
THE AGE OF EMANCIPATION: SHAPED WATCHES – 1940 to 1970
By the mid-20th century, women’s roles were shifting irreversibly rendered this emancipation visible and their influence defined a new ideal of independence. Horology reflected this confidence, watches moved beyond miniaturised jewels to bold shapes and sculptural forms. A watch was no longer just an accessory, but a statement of identity and emancipation.
THE AGE OF LEADERSHIP: COMPLICATION WATCHES – 1970 TO TODAY
From the 1970s onwards, women advanced as equals with new figures embodying this era of leadership and influence. In watchmaking, this transformation found expression in high complications. Once reserved for men, tourbillons, perpetual calendars, and minute repeaters entered the world of feminine horology. Jaeger-LeCoultre’s Rendez-Vous and Reverso embody this synthesis — combining elegance with technical mastery.
